(CHANDLER, AZ) — Today, Ed Hermes, candidate for County Supervisor in District 1, submitted his latest campaign fundraising report to the Maricopa County Elections Department. Hermes raised almost $27,000. His fundraising more than tripled his opponent’s, a 12-year incumbent, in the second reporting period of the campaign season, from June 1 to August 13. His opponent raised only $6,900, and spent $15,000, ending the quarter with around $8,000 less cash on hand than at the beginning. Hermes spent slightly less than $13,000 over the same period, leaving him with $77,682.72 total cash on hand.
Hermes pointed out the broad based support his campaign has received. “This campaign is truly being funded by average citizens. We’re relying on everyday people from the East Valley who are ready for a change.”
The incumbent only had 17 individual donors this period, whereas Hermes received contributions from 265 citizens and nearly seven hundred to date. "We have a true grassroots operation, with nearly seven hundred donors to date and dozens of volunteers working on this campaign. It's a sign that residents of the East Valley want a change at the County Board of Supervisors," said Hermes.
