The only reason money
The only reason money supposedly makes a candidate viable is because certain media sources say it does. Only How many months ago was the media discussing Clinton's "inevitability"?
We Americans sometimes have a bad habit of electing good fundraisers instead of good leaders. Naturally, this begs the question: how's that been working for you so far?
Not very well, if the recent FISA cave-in, our continued presence in Iraq, and a lack of meaningful reform in health care and immigration is any indication.
Campaign Finance
Let's face it, the partnership between politics and money isn't going away any time soon. Anyone who runs for office has to raise money to get their message out, period. Imagine if Apple or Toyota or Geico didn't put any money into advertising? They wouldn't sell their products. The same rule applies for candidates. They have to raise money and spend it to get their message out in an already "noisy" marketplace of ideas.
High Five F. Clark
Come-on AZ politicker! we just watched two presidential campaign's with less money at the beginning of the race win. At one point McCain was carrying his own bags and flying coach. The American People are tired of the status-quo career politicians running Washington. It would behoove this site to remember everyone gets a vote rich and poor and elections decide representation not dead presidents. GO SHANKER!
I just lost respect for PolitickerAZ
Am I the only one who thinks that getting big money OUT of politics should be our objective?
I'm disgusted with PolitickerAZ- and this has been one of my favorite sources of Arizona news. I'm MORE inclined to vote for the so-called "losers" than the so-called "winners." Do you really want to elect more big money politicians? Kirkpatrick will be another Rick Renzi, all about money and not at all about the district. I've never seen her out campaigning, all she does is raise money. She won't get my vote and I'm spreading the word.
I would really appreciate a response from whichever Politicker posted this winners/losers list, explaining why on earth we should think big money indicates the best candidate.
Sandra Livingstone
Better get your fact checker a new checker. Livingstone not only filed, she has prime office space in downtown Prescott facing the Court House. Her signs are popping up all over and she is traveling the District. Don't throw the Livingstone campaign out the door just yet. Her supporters are gaining momemtum.
