As Bennett leans closer, Mayes appears to be reconsidering

Last week the Inside Edge reported former senate President Ken Bennett was giving serious consideration to entering the CD1 race for Congress. Bennett would face Sydney Hay and possibly Kris Mayes in a Republican primary. Mayes has been inching closer to announcing her candidacy, but now we are hearing Mayes is leaning towards not running if Bennett does decide to enter the race. Bennett appears to have many CD1 heavyweights in his corner if he decided to get in would make it hard for Mayes to gain traction. Bennett is rumored be ready to decide this month if he will be entering the race.

Hey Edge! I'd like to hear what your thoughts are on these guys (and girls) getting into the race so late compared to the others. I know Bennett is a heavy hitter in CD1 but with all his baggage included and the uphill battle with Hay having been in for months, does he have a decent shot? How does he get past the fact that he said he didn't want to run last fall? I'd like to see an opinion piece on some of this, from mr. opinion himself... :)
