Legislative preview, House districts 1-5
LD1
This district is strongly Republican and should see no change. Republicans Lucy Mason and Andrew Tobin are both running for re-election. The Democrats have put up only one candidate in hopes of garnering more votes and picking up one of the district seats, but Dennis Grittner is unlikely to get enough votes.
LD2
This district is as strong for Democratic candidates as LD1 is for Republicans, who did not even field a token candidate here.
LD3
Back to the Republican column. Nancy McLain should easily be re-elected and will more than likely be joined by Doris Goodale who is seeking to replace Trish Groe.
LD4
Both incumbent Republicans are running for their seats again in LD 4 and both Tom Boone, the Majority Leader in the House, and Judy Burges should be returned to their seats.
LD5
Finally a seat where there could be some excitement. Both Democrat Jack Brown and Republican Bill Konopnicki are running for their seat again and have to be the favorites, but if an upset happens here it would not be a shock. In a 3-way race in 2004 Brown won a razor close race and will try to hold off Barbara Brewer this year. Konopnicki will more than likely lead all vote getters. Democrats will spend a lot of resources here to protect their Assistant Majority Leader.
