Schweikert launches tv ads
By Wally EdgeFormer Maricopa County Attorney David Schweikert has launched his first round of television ads introducing himself to voters as a conservative Republican. Schweikert hits the traditional Republican themes of securing our borders, cutting taxes and cutting spending.

Dont mortgage the family farm
I hope that the citizens in CD 5 don't want a candidate that got into 1/4 million dollars in debt to run in this election.
Schweikert mortgaged his house
David Schweikert mortgaged his house to the tune of some $250,000 to buy television ads like that. Borrowing money against your house to fund a political campaign is financially risky behavior. Do we want another idiot with that type of poor judgement in Congress?
Also, the TV ad makes a lot of Schweikert passing tax cuts. The truth is, Schweikert served in the state legislature for four years in the early 1990s. He happened to be around when Symington cut taxes. However, Schweikert did little more than vote yes -- in between asking lobbyists for contributions to his ultimately unsuccessful Congressional campaign.
It is not widely known, but while at the legislature Schweikert associated with some interesting individuals. The person he hired to be his assistant was none other than impeached Governor Evan Mecham's assistant, Karen Johnson. Yes...THE Karen Johnson who recently made headlines for blaming September 11th on the CIA.
