7th CD Independent candidate Harley Meyer states on his home page “I have my degrees from the U of Minnesota and a superior IQ. Having these as part of my skill sets plus my rare analytical reasoning skills, puts me above the mark.”  Nothing like a little humility when asking the voters for support.

Meyer’s biography page is an interesting read where he talks about how with his superior IQ he was able to raise his GPA from 1.8 to above 3.0.  Here is a large excerpt from his biography. 

A Walk Down Memory Lane:  In Yankton, South Dakota I participated in various sports and extra curricular activities. It was really a great place to grow up. In high school and Jr. High I won many individual honors like Academic All-American, All-American in football, wrestling (Jr. High only) and track and field awards. As well as the privilege to participate in team honors with state championships in football and basketball. At the time, I was being touted by one major university in the area as one of their top 100 athletes in the country. And of course I can't forget track and field where I long jumped 22' 1" or my personal career win record as a participant in football from the 5th grade to high school graduation was 52 wins, 2 loses and 1 tie. The list goes on so I'll stop here as not to bore you. I was a good student, but not what you would call an academic superstar. Yes, those years were relatively fun until I left high school.

In July of 1978 I entered the Air Force Academy Prep School in Colorado Springs, CO; where I was struck by a drunk driver as a pedestrian, shortly after having knee surgery. That sucked big time. Life turned for the worse after the accident and after about 6 months I left the prep school. All sports were out, grades suffered greatly for several years (4 years to be exact with about a 1.8 GPA) and during this time I had begun to drink and do drugs. I really had a hell of a time. I later dropped out of the University of Minnesota and went to work. However later, I have always said that even though doing drugs at that point in time was a big waist of my life. However, I will also say that I am glad that it happened in my youth and not as an adult (like right now) when these types of problems typically hit the family in the household.

Well talk about a lucky break. I decided one day to look for my birth mother in 1984. I found her quickly and I was eventually able to go back to school in 1988 at the age of 28. I later graduated from the University of Minnesota - Twins Cities Campus with a Math Degree from the Institute of Technology and an Economics Degree with Mathematics Emphasis from the College of Liberal Arts. And I graduated above a 3.0 GPA after the first 4 years of having about a 1.8 GPA. That I am proud of. I have to say that my mother helped me finish what my adopted parents could not do. Before LaDeane died, it was great to have two moms at the same time.
