AZ high roller wants his money from contributions back

Mark Twain once said “Thank God we don’t get all the government we pay for.”   But it appears not everyone feels that way.

Donald Diamond, a Tucson real estate developer is featured in a New York Times story this morning in which his ties to John McCain are explored.  Diamond, a long time friend of McCain, has raised over $250k so far for McCain.  McCain has helped Diamond many times over their 26 year relationship with many matters.  The Times tries to paint the relationship as questionable, a sort of pay for access type relationship.  We will let you come to your own conclusions there.

The one quote that caught the Inside Edge’s eye was when he was referring to his relationships with the Arizona Delegation and said, “I want my money back, for Christ’s sake. Do you know how many cocktail parties I have to go to?”

A look at Diamond’s contributions over the last decade shows contributions to numerous political officials.  They include everyone from Ed Pastor and Tom Lantos to John Shadegg and Jon Kyl.  While most of his contributions have been to Republicans, Democratic names also show up among recipients of his generous giving.
