If Congressman John Shadegg decides to retire, one of the favorites for his seat would be State Treasurer Dean Martin. Martin though would also be taking the biggest risk as he would need to resign his seat to run. Martin is not entering the last year of his term, he is only in the first year as State Treasurer.
Martin is now joining the 130 members of Congress who are urging Congressman John Shadegg to reconsider his decision to step aside. Martin said in his statement “The residents of Congressional District 3 need someone who we know will stand against great odds for conservative principles, and I know that person is you. As a constituent and fellow conservative, I would like to join the 143 members of Congress and the vast majority of our fellow CD3 residents to sincerely ask that you reconsider your decision to retire from the US House of Representatives.”
Shadegg’s camp says the Congressman will use this weekend to reconsider and will have a final decision early next week.
