Tom Dunn joins Bee campaign as spokesman

Blogger and retail mortgage broker firm partner Tom Dunn, who runs the GOP-leaning ThinkRightAZ blog, has been tapped by Sen. President Tim Bee (R-Tucson) to act as Communications Director in his campaign to unseat U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-8).

"With so much going wrong in politics, Tim Bee is what is right with politics," Dunn told PolitickerAZ. "Tim Bee serves for the benefit of the people, not for his own interests."

While Bee gains a spokesman, Arizona loses a blogger. Dunn said he will be giving up his blog for the time being. "I'm going to let it sit. I don't want to hand it off to someone else - you never know what they're going to post."

Dunn is a relative newcomer to Arizona politics. He moved to Tucson from Washington State in 2005, and immediately became involved in the Arizona Republican party, having been a GOP activist in Washington. He campaigned for Sen. John Kyl in 2006, and currently serves as a citizen commissioner on the Business and Economic Development Commission in his town of Marana.

"When Senate President Tim Bee announced his intentions to run for Congress, I immediately let the Campaign Manager Meg Econ know that I was available to help in any way that they felt would be most effective," said Dunn.

However, the 40-year-old said he doesn't have any designs on a move to Washington, D.C. "I have a teenage son and a 10-year-old daughter. I want to stay in Arizona - I don't want to be a politician." Added Dunn, "I just want to help Tim Bee win. And I know he's going to."
