Democratic defector not welcomed by County Party

Tony Bouie was a Democrat earlier this year, but has since switched to the Republican Party and is running for state Representative against Stan Crump and Carl Seel.

Bouie has been welcomed with open arms by many of those who have taken the time to sit down with him, hear his story and to ask where he stands on a lot of the issues.  Conservatives such as Congressman John Shadegg and state Senator Pam Gorman have come out and endorsed Bouie.  Republican leaning organizations such as the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, the NFIB and the Arizona Realtors have also come out and endorsed Bouie in his campaign.

But not all conservatives are welcoming Bouie with open arms.

No room for Democrats

Today State Senate Democrats moved the location of next week's forum on Arizona's mortgage crisis, after balking at a stipulation imposed by Sen. Pres. Tim Bee (R-Tucson) that Sens. Pam Gorman (R-Anthem) and John Huppenthal (R-Chandler) have a major role in the event.

The incensed Democrats responded that Bee's conditions were "unreasonable" and constituted an attempt to "control the agenda." Rather than acquiesce and allow Gorman and Huppenthal the level of participation they want, the Democrats instead elected to appeal to Gov. Janet Napolitano, who found space for them in the Executive Tower.

Two days ago, Rep. John Shadegg was the odds-on favorite to keep the 3rd District seat in Republican hands for an umpteenth straight term (when it was the 4th District, it had been in the GOP column since at least the Ford administration).  read more »

Sen. Pam Gorman giving consideration to CD3 bid

The Inside Edge has confirmed State Senator Pam Gorman is indeed giving serious consideration to running for the 3rd CD left open earlier this week when Congressman John Shadegg announced his retirement.
