Charges against Huppenthal to be submitted by Friday

The Chandler Police Department will recommend state Sen. John Huppenthal (R-Chandler) be charged with two misdemeanors, theft and tampering with a political sign, related to an incident at a polling place in Chandler on Election Day.

Det. Dave Ramer, a public information officer with the Chandler police, told PolitickerAZ.com that the recommendation would be submitted to the city attorney's office "sometime before the end of the week."

The charges stem from accusations that Huppenthal tore down a sign he claims contained "lies" about his record without asking permission from the property owner. There are conflicting reports as to whether or not Huppenthal did obtain permission first.

    No room for Democrats

Today State Senate Democrats moved the location of next week's forum on Arizona's mortgage crisis, after balking at a stipulation imposed by Sen. Pres. Tim Bee (R-Tucson) that Sens. Pam Gorman (R-Anthem) and John Huppenthal (R-Chandler) have a major role in the event.

The incensed Democrats responded that Bee's conditions were "unreasonable" and constituted an attempt to "control the agenda." Rather than acquiesce and allow Gorman and Huppenthal the level of participation they want, the Democrats instead elected to appeal to Gov. Janet Napolitano, who found space for them in the Executive Tower.

Arizona Democratic Party files election complaints against Huppenthal

The Arizona Democratic Party today filed three complaints to the Clean Elections Commission against state Sen. John Huppenthal. The complaints ask the commission to examine recent robo-calls in support of Huppenthal which were delivered without a paid for disclaimer. The calls appear to be in response to earlier robo-calls made by the Arizona Democratic Party which criticized Huppenthal for voting against emergency funding to clean up Cornona del Sol high school.
