Maricopa count to be completed by Nov. 21

The Maricopa County Recorder's office expects the ballot counting process to be completed by Friday, November 21, according to a spokeswoman.

Yvonne Reed told PolitickerAZ.com that the count would be completed by the 21st in anticipation of the release of the official canvass the following Monday. 

According to Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell, as of Wednesday afternoon there still remained roughly 42,000 early ballots and 112,000 provisional ballots to be processed. Purcell is scheduled to issue another update on the progress Friday afternoon "close to 5:00 p.m."

TIME Coalition files suit to restore signatures

The TIME Coalition filed a complaint in Maricopa County Superior Court Wednesday to restore about 10,000 petition signatures that were deemed invalid by the Arizona Secretary of State and the Maricopa County Recorder's office.

TIME was hoping to put an initative on the November ballot that would raise the state sales tax by 1 cent to pay for improvements and expansion in Arizona's transportation infrastructure. However, the Secretary of State and Maricopa County ruled the initiative did not have enough signatures to qualify, after it found thousands to be invalid for a variety of reasons.
