Maupin Releases Plan To Be “Energy Independent In Two Years”

Sedona, AZ (July 14, 2008) - With record gas and oil prices businessman, author and independent candidate for US Congress in Arizona's 1st congressional district, Brent Maupin, released his plan to be energy independent in two years. His plan follows:

Energy Independent in Two Years

• Reduce the price of oil per barrel by 50% within 30 days by regulating index speculation

Industry experts all agree that the price per barrel of oil would be cut by 50% if the cost per barrel was based solely on supply and demand. Speculation, or the purchase of "paper barrels" for investment purposes, are now out of control and must be regulated by Congress. These regulations must include investor transparency laws. This would reduce the price per barrel by 50% within 30 days.

• Increase mileage efficiency by 40%

We currently have the technology to increase the fuel efficiency of each diesel and gasoline engine in this country by 40% through the use of a 2HO hydrogen gas injection system. This technology does not replace gasoline or diesel but enhances their performance by approximately 40%.  These systems must be installed on every new and used truck and automobile in this country within the next two years. Note: Candidate Maupin has installed one of these devises on his personal vehicle.

• Show a willingness to open more supply with environmentally sound domestic drilling

Showing a willingness to increase our own oil producing capacity and therefore bring more supply into the market will help reduce speculation tendencies and, more importantly, help this country get off of foreign oil.

• Keep all of America's oil in America

Currently oil from Alaska is being shipped to Asia. All of America's oil needs to stay in America.

• Be off oil from the Middle East within two years

By installing the 2HO hydrogen gas technology, as describe above, onto every automobile and truck in this country within the next two years we can reduce our usage from 20 million barrels per day to just 14 million barrels per day. The United States of America currently produces 7 million barrels of oil per day. Increasing our own oil supply with proper environmentally sound drilling techniques by an additional 3 million barrels of oil per day would bring our domestic oil production to 10 million barrels of oil per day. We currently import 2.4 million barrels of oil per day from Canada and 1.7 million barrels per day from Mexico. This brings the total to 14.1 million barrels of oil per day and North America is oil independent!

• Limit lease holding time period

Currently there are over 65 million acres under lease by major oil companies in this country. Exploration on these lands needs to be acted upon within 5 years or the leases will be withdrawn. This is what has become known as the "Use it or Loose it" plan.

• Investigate physical hording

Executives within any company caught artificially driving up prices by hording oil leases or manipulating the market will be prosecuted and jailed.

• Strong incentives to produce alternative energy sources

Special incentives must be given to further the technologies in alternative energy sources, with particular attention given to the hydrogen technologies. Also included are wind, solar, bio-diesel, geothermal, and other sources of renewable energy, with the emphasis on doing what it takes to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil, and ultimately from fossil fuels.

• Prosecuting oil companies that practice price gouging
• Enforcing the Gas Price Relief for Consumers Act
• Be off of petroleum based fuels in 30 years

The above plan must be aggressive enough such that we are off of petroleum based fuels in 30 years for our businesses and homes and in 20 years for our trucks and automobiles.
