Scott Smith gets boost from former rival

Claudia Walters, the Vice-Mayor of Mesa and former Mayoral candidate, has decided to snub a colleague and endorse the newcomer Scott Smith for Mayor.

Walters finished with 28% in the three-way campaign on March 11th to Scott Smith’s 38% and Rex Griswold’s 34%.  Griswold, who has served with Walters on the Mesa board cannot be happy with this endorsement.  Walter’s is a veteran of Mesa politics and her endorsement and organization could put this election out of reach for Griswold.

Mesa’s runoff election will be held on May 20th.
