New ad blasts House over FISA inaction

If you were watching the news channels or Meet the Press this weekend, you probably saw the ad unveiled by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a Washington, D.C.-based anti-terrorism think tank, that takes House members to task over letting the FISA modification extensions expire and then going on vacation.

In case you missed it:

The ad that ran in the Phoenix market featured the contact info for Rep. Harry Mitchell (D-5), and the Tucson market ad did the same for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-8).

House Democrats have been under fire from Republican opponents for refusing to vote on a bill that passed the Senate with Republican and Democratic support, and would have extended the easing of restrictions on surveillance of suspected terrorists. Democrats object to a provision in the bill that grants telecommunications companies retroactive immunity for their part in funneling the raw data of millions of customers through the National Security Agency's computers.
