Goldwater has kind words for Winkler

Susan Goldwater, the widow of former Arizona Senator and 1964 Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, praised Paradise Valley mayor and Third Congressional District candidate Ed Winkler today, though she stopped short of an endorsement.

“I’m impressed with his capabilities and his commitment to public service,” Goldwater told PolitickerAZ.com.

Goldwater said she would not endorse Winkler or any of the candidates thinking about entering the race, but that she had an interest in the campaign.

Goldwater, the Executive Director of Hospice of the Valley, serves with Winkler on the Town of Paradise Valley Committee.

Also sitting on the committee is Barry Goldwater’s daughter, Joanne Goldwater, and Marilyn Tucker Quayle, wife of former Vice President Dan Quayle.
