Giffords guest of Clinton

As the race for superdelegates heats up, Hillary Clinton is focusing on a few key Congressional members who are still up for grabs. Each of the 796 superdelegates votes is worth about 10,000 of a regular individuals votes. You can quickly why the superdelegates are in such high demand.

One of those undecided and key superdelegates is AZ-8 Congresswomen Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords was among a select group who last week was invited to a small private reception with Hillary Clinton in Washington DC. Giffords is being courted by both Hillary and her supporters nationally and Governor Janet Napolitano, a Barack Obama supporter. Clinton has a strong case for the Arizona superdelegates as she handily won the state on Super Tuesday.

As of right now here are Arizona’s superdelegates

Hillary Clinton
Janice Brunson, National Committeewomen
Ed Pastor, Congressman
Joe Rios, National Committeeman
Carolyn Warner, National Committeewomen

Barack Obama
Raul Grijalva, Congressman
Janet Napolitano, Governor

Uncommitted
Don Bivens, Party Chairman
Gabby Giffords, Congresswomen
Harry Mitchell, Congressman
2 seats TBD (Vacant Party Vice-Chair seat vacated by Donna Branch Gilby and another seat which will almost certainly be Attorney General Terry Goddard)
