Hay raises 100K at a single event

There's an expectation that the CD1 race for the Republican nomination will begin in earnest once AZ Corporation Commissioner Kris Mayes makes what at this point seems to be her inevitable entry. Her task may be somewhat more daunting now that mining industry advocate and former talk show host Sydney Hay is putting up big numbers in her race to be the GOP nom.

The Hay campaign issued a statement today touting a one-night $100,000 haul - more than many congressional candidates can expect in an entire quarter.

"At a fundraiser held last evening," ran the release, "hosted by longtime friends Karen and Bob Hobbs at their historic home, the restored home of Barry Goldwater, attended by Barry Goldwater, Jr., we were overwhelmed by the great response that resulted in $100,000 raised! Thank you to all who helped make the event a huge success."
