“It’s not a question of, ‘if’, it’s a question of, ‘by how much?’”
Phoenix, AZ – Arizona Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen said DNC Chairman Howard Dean was better off screaming wildly into microphones. “If Mr. Dean actually thinks either Senator Obama or Senator Clinton can defeat John McCain in his home state of Arizona, Mr. Dean isn’t just screaming, he’s dreaming.”
“In recent surveys in every part of the state I’ve seen, Arizona’s home-state candidate John McCain beats either Senator Clinton or Obama by double digits and in some cases by margins of two-to-one or more,” Pullen said. “Senator McCain has fought for Arizona families, job providers and the state as a whole for more than two decades and the simple fact is, a McCain presidency would be amazingly good for this state.”
The Democratic (sic: there is clearly nothing Democratic about the Democrat Party) National Committee held a conference call this afternoon in which they described alleged McCain weaknesses in the Rocky Mountain West because of earlier competitive Republican primaries in which he did not campaign. What Mr. Dean failed to mention is: in states where Senator McCain campaigned, he did quite well.
“By the same logic, Democrats are weak across the entire United States because their eventual nominee won’t have had a majority everywhere,” Pullen said. “In other words, this is possibly the dumbest thing to come out of the DNC since they first defended Senator Clinton’s accusations of a vast right wing conspiracy or tried to cast a favorable light on Senator Obama’s ability to skip vote after vote after vote on truly significant issues.
“Because neither Senator Clinton nor Senator Obama understand the meaning of straight talk and Democrats have opinions based only on what pollsters tell them, one would think DNC Chairman Howard Dean could read a poll,” chided Pullen. “But if they could, they’d realize they have about as much hope of winning in Arizona in 2008 as a snowman does in Phoenix in August. Of course, truth, credibility and honesty mean about as much to Mr. Dean and the DNC as they do to Senators Clinton and Obama. And that, my friends, is one of the reasons Democrats won’t win in 2008.”
