New Club for Growth ad hits Mitchell on taxes

The Club for Growth has released a new 15 second ad in the 5th Congressional District that claims U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell (D-Tempe) has "backed crippling higher taxes" throughout his political career, from the time he was mayor of Tempe to his first term in the U.S. House.

Club for Growth, whose political action committee has endorsed the candidacy of David Schweikert, Mitchell's opponent in the 5th district, said in an accompanying release that "the $250,000 ad buy will run on broadcast television in the Phoenix market."

"It is important to run this ad so that Arizona taxpayers learn about Harry Mitchell’s record and call him and tell him to vote for lower taxes," said Pat Toomey, president of ClubforGrowth.net.

The ad is part of a spate of commercials Club for Growth has released in competitive districts throughout the country, targeting Democratic incumbents who may be vulnerable.

TRANSCRIPT:

Voice Over: Harry Mitchell backed crippling higher taxes as mayor, again as state senator, and again as congressman.

Now, more than ever, tell Harry to stop raising our taxes.
