AZ GOP perplexed by lack of attention on Rangel

Sean McCaffrey, executive director of the Arizona Republican Party, is hard pressed to explain why the ethics controversies of U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) haven't been a factor in the campaigns of Arizona Democrats who have received contributions from him.

"I honestly don't know" why not, McCaffrey told PolitickerAZ.com.

The New York City congressman has been embarrassed by numerous revelations about his activities in the past months, from using a rent controlled luxury apartment as a campaign office, to directing congressional funds toward a project bearing his name. Most recently it came to light that Rangel failed to report income from rental properties he owns in the Dominican Republic.

Now an ethics investigation into Rangel's finances is underway, and national and Arizona Republicans have been trying to pressure 3rd Congressional District Democratic congressional candidate Bob Lord and U.S. Reps. Harry Mitchell (D-Tempe) and Gabrielle Giffords (D-Tucson) into returning campaign contributions Rangel's fundraising committee gave them.

So far, the effort has been in vain, and the connection between the embattled Rangel and Arizona Democrats has not sparked public controversy.

"There's been a lack of interest in it," McCaffrey said. "The level of outrage in this state, outside of my little cinderblock office, was nil."

McCaffrey theorized that, at least in the case of Mitchell, it had to do with how the public sees the freshman representative.

"For whatever reason, he is beloved by five out of ten voters," said McCaffrey. "They think, 'grandpa's dead, so we'll adopt Harry Mitchell.'"

"Nobody can imagine their own grandfather doing anything wrong," McCaffrey said.

McCain's October Surprise

Hello Michelle,

After being essentially ignored during this entire campaign by the Phoenix campaign staff, I have decided I must go to someone directly.

Mealer Companies aka Mealer Motor Co., (my company) has just been funded a heck of a lot of money (draws begin anytime the next week or two due to the bailout fiasco slow down)... And I expect to hit the ground running and advertise for my automobiles, our Green products, the economy and the amount of jobs Mealer Companies will ultimately create.

This is huge! Think about it... A new USA auto manufacture! Why will no one listen?? McCain has inspired me and I want America and the world to know it.

After formulating the McCain 3R Economic-Energy Plan (Google it).. I know that this funding gift I have been blessed with will make Mealer Companies the positive October Surprise for McCain and give him the added points to win the election. We are setting up a 129 acres main assembly plant off the 202 and Warner road...
A major indoor test track and R&D Center in Show Low, Arizona (93 acres) near the Show Low Airport.. We will be purchasing plants in all swing states for the very reason of capturing the hearts and minds of the people who are leaning one way or the other...Michigan and Pennsylvania get two each..a nd Florida will be mfg computers and such for our autos and we may as well build laptops and PCs while we are at it.

Like I said.. This is huge for McCain!!

I TRULY NEED someone connected to the campaign to take this somewhere and get the main players involved.. Time is of the essence and all I want to do is help make this happen for the good guys.... (McCain's team).

What can you do to help get the campaign involved?? I have just sent of messages to the Mich GOP to allow Mealer Companies to represent McCain there.

October is critical.... Please, let's use this gift that God has given me with a funding joint venture group to do what we need to do.

We will win this election.
