Over a year and 500k, but you could barely beat someone who entered the race a couple of months’ before the Primary, even with the might of the misguided State Republican party behind you?! And why do you ass-ume Livingstone had anything to do with several people who have you and your candidate’s number on this blog space? The fact is, I am a Democrat who is delighted that Sydney Hay won the Primary, because she went negative from the opening bell, lying about Ann Kirkpatrick and her record, and people do not like negative ads. Kirkpatrick herself highlighted the difference between Livingstone, who never said a bad word about Hay or anyone else in her TV, Radio Ads, and campaign, and Hay, who blasted Kirkpatrick and Livingstone with a barrage of lies from the get-go. And where were you from September 2-on, when Livingstone congratulated Hay on several media outlets and wished her well? There’s only one person here with sour grapes—and that is you—a very bad “winner.” But your position is short-lived, because Ann is going to bring out even more of the truth about Hay and Co.-- Hay is for horses, but Donkeys love it too!!

Truman, did we see Sydney on the campaign trail for Rick following his victory over her in 2002? Your assumptions are your vulnerability, and any campaign that hires you is doomed to loose because you just don't get it do you?

You don't get it, do you "Truman"? I have nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats--I am an Independent and proud of it! That is why I am so disgusted with the results of these elections--entrenched politicians and Phoenix lobbyists. Something is either true or it is not. Do your homework, and you will find that everything I said is the TRUTH. And that is why I and tens of thousands of others have left the Republican party--it stinks like fire and brimstone--or the sulphuric acid in the Phelps Dodge mines!

Shame on whoever wrote the above 2 sour grape drivels. If the authors are within the Livingstone campaign, please let her know that if the "well-educated, highly-experienced, intelligent and articulate lawmaker" wants a future in AZ politics, she needs to come out of hiding, issue a make nice unity concession statement, and denounce this type of ugly rhetoric. Then, she actually needs to do something for the people of AZ - you know build a LOCAL record of political achievements, because all politics really are local.

These are the least of Sydney Hay’s troubles! Could the Republican Party of Arizona, and the RNCC have given the Dems a better gift on a silver platter than this woman without ethics, in order to ensure the Reps lose CD1? Trent Franks, who took almost as much money from Convicted Felon Jack Abramoff as the disgraced Tom DeLay, was the one pushing Sydney Hay on Arizona—and she also took money from Abramoff in her last failed bid for this seat! The Dems have not failed to recognize the fact that Franks and Hay—both from Colorado and with a long joint past—attempt to parade around as devout Baptists, when many parishioners in their (former) common church in the Valley talk freely about their affair, and the end of Hay’s marriage to Hoff because of it. Franks himself did not escape allegations of multiple affairs as long ago as 1990 when he ran against John Shaddegg, and he has been linked to multiple women, ensuing divorces, and destroyed families since.
One wonders why Franks has been so hell-bent to convince other AZ lawmakers to endorse Hay, when she was the least-qualified candidate running? We should also not forget that it was Abramoff who pushed the Diebold voting machines on AZ and other States, and the fact that Princeton has done a study on how easy it is to rig these machines to steal votes between candidates. Is it really the case that Hay won the election, or is this another “Pima County Moment?” Even if she did, and the numbers are correct, she failed to get 62% of the vote amongst Republicans! After 13 months, nearly half a million dollars, and the entire Republican State and National Party machinery behind Hay, she barely beat Livingstone, who spent less that 1/15 of the money Hay did, and 1/7 of the time running for office. This hardly indicates a “unified base.” Livingstone supporters were actually hoping for a well-educated, highly-experienced, intelligent and articulate lawmaker, not someone with a B.S. from an unknown college in Kansas and the lingo to match it—a paid, unprincipled, unethical lobbyist from Phoenix who sends out materials leading voters to believe she was actually in the AZ State Legislature when she has never been elected. In fact, the items she claims to have accomplished—school choice, tax reduction, etc.—were actually put forward and carried through by those who were elected. And why did Hay direct her TV and Radio Ads at Kirkpatrick, as if she had already won the election? We all know how Kirkpatrick responded.
Where does this leave us now? With a pathetic Republican candidate who will not unify the base, and with a Democrat who HAS been elected to the State Legislature, has tons of money to throw at this race, and who knows the sulphuric acid smell coming from the Phelps Dodge mines Sydney Hay has fought so hard to keep polluted is only the beginning of her sordid, adulterous life with Trent Franks (who should be removed from office) and Jack Abramoff, her misrepresentations to the voters, and her complete lack of readiness to assume office as School Crosswalk Monitor, let alone U.S. Congress! Republicans, kiss this seat goodbye!
