The only reason why Mary Kim won was because she basically lied to the people. She had no answers and left almost all the debates early. No answers. And FYI, Indians vote relatives in all the time, so she used that to her advantaged. She never paid any attention to the little people, until now. Now we finally matter to her, but sooner or later, she'll be back to her usually stuck-up self. Usually, Indians, vote in family members, which happened in San Carlos and White Mountain, they never really look at the candidate and see how they will do the job, and the bigger your family is, the more votes you will get. And people, will remind you quickly, "remember, she's one of us, and she is Apache". Forgetting, the fact, that she did nothing for us, but promote herself all through the years. People don't look at that. Howard had many supporters all over Navajo, we never saw any Mary Kim volunteer on election day on Navajo. Neither did we see Ann Kirkpatrick volunteers. Noone knew of Anne, and shen I heard KTNN(Navajo radio) I was surprised to hear she got 2,000 from Navajo County, and 2,000 from Apache County. First, thing I thought was, it was rigged! Not one person knew who she was. They knew of KIM, but did not care to vote for her because she did not know anything. Everywhere in CD1, we saw few voters, and everyone I met supported Shanker because of his stance on issues and he's a sharp guy, but I was surprised by the numbers. The Democrat Party wanted Anne from the beginning and would do anything to get her in, and Mary Kim was just another "Divide and Conquer" tactic that was used all through history. She was used by them (and she fell for it) to Keep Shanker out. Mary Kim really fell for it,she said people wanted her to run, Gee, I wonder why. Well, theres your answer. The Democratic Party just wanted to split up the Native American voters, and they did a good job of it. Even the Republicans know this. I know this is true!
