UPDATED: Richard has less than $9K on hand
By Evan Brown, PolitickerAZ.com ReporterAfter another lackluster fundraising period, Gerald Richard, one of two Democratic primary contenders in the Maricopa County attorney race, had only $8,768 left in his campaign coffers as of Aug. 13. While he still managed to outraise incumbent Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, drawing $26,244 in contributions between July 1 and Aug. 13 to Thomas's $9,800, the sitting attorney has a cash on hand total of $204,566.
Meanwhile, Tim Nelson, Richard's rival for the Democratic nomination, raised "about $72,000" during the same period, according to Joshua Kilroy, Nelson's campaign manager. They haven't released their cash on hand total yet, but Kilroy indicated it was going to far exceed Richard's total.
UPDATED 4:37 p.m. MST: The Nelson campaign reports having $170,100 on hand, and raising $71,324 between July 1 and Aug. 13.

Hahahaha yellow jacket! Nobody hates anybody for keeping their word. And Thomas has NOT kept his word--unless he promised to misuse public funds, promote racism, end affirmative action and abuse his power.

The voters have yet to speak. All we've heard from so far on the Nelson side are the checkbooks of the Friends of Janet. That doesn't guarantee a victory. Just ask Laura Pastor.
TIM NELSON HAS BROAD APPEAL
HE WILL BE A LEADER THAT UNITES BOTH COMMUNITIES. NO LIBERAL HERE. HE IS A FISCAL CONSERVATIVE THAT WON'T ATTEMPT TO ARREST THE GARDENERS OF THE WORLD. HE WILL FIGHT REAL CRIME. THOMAS IS STILL SITTING ON 40,000 WARRANTS. LET'S SEE HIM ACTUALLY DO A SWEEP TO PICK UP THOSE FOLKS!
Neither Nelson nor Richard
Neither of these two democrat candidates are even electable. Sanctuary Gerry drafted Phoenix PD's sanctuary policy, which has since been repudiated even by liberal Mayor Gordon.
ACLU Tim not only is an ACLU lawyer, but he said recently that he is "proud" of the work he did for the ACLU.
No thank you on either of these liberals.
Andrew Thomas pledged to go after violent criminals and fight illegal immigration and unlike most pols, he has kept his word. And that's why the far left hates him.
VOTE TIM NELSON
The voters have symbolicly spoken. It's Tim Nelson for County Attorney. Time for Mr. Richard to join with Tim Nelson and fire Thomas.
Maricopa County Attorney
As I've been telling my friends, I have no doubt that Richard is enthusiastic for the position, but Tim Nelson is the candidate who can beat Andrew Thomas in November, and given Thomas's behavior over the past few years, that is the most important thing at this point.
Either Nelson or Richard
Either Nelson or Richard would be a vast improvement over Thomas. However, given his superior legal expertise and experience, I'll go with Nelson. Plus he has the resources to take out Thomas.
