Bitter Smith targeted by new Club for Growth ad campaign
By Evan Brown, PolitickerAZ.com ReporterThe Club for Growth, which is backing the candidacy of Republican primary candidate David Schweikert in the 5th Congressional District, has come out with two new ads, according to a Club release Thursday. Both ads - one a 15 second television spot, the other a 60 second radio commercial - hit Susan Bitter Smith, one of Schweikert's opponents in the primary contest, for voting to increase property taxes as a member of the Scottsdale City Council.
"“Throughout the decade in a half in which Susan Bitter Smith has been involved in politics, her record has been consistently liberal on economic issues,” said Pat Toomey, president of the Club for Growth, in a statement unveiling the ads. “She supported a huge tax increase when she was a city council member in the early nineties and she refuses to fight wasteful spending today as a congressional candidate. Susan Bitter Smith can call herself a conservative, but when voters look at her record, they will see just how liberal she truly is.”
The TV ad, titled "Taxes," begins running on broadcast and cable stations Friday, while the radio ad, "Gold Medal," is already in rotation. The Club said the ads will run through the Sept. 2 primary.

Bitter Smith dropped her opposition to other taxes in order to get a labor union endorsement. And Bitter Smit refuses to pledge to oppose wasteful Washington earmark spending.

Yes David Schweikert is pro-life and was endorsed by right to life (unlike baby killer Susan) but if you read the endorsement it mentions Mark Anderson and Laura Knaperek as worth candidates who are staunchly right to life as well but basically Schweikert has cash so we endorse him...

Also your boy Schweikert was endorsed by the AZ AFL-CIO on two separate occasions! In a state that is not too friendly to organized labor at all that is quite a LIBERAL position to take. I notice you did not address this issue.. This is because there is no denying it, it is a matter of fact.
He also did double charge property owners on their property tax as treasurer. Any extra taxes not matter how or why they happened is an issue... Especially when Mitchell has introduced a bill to make capital gains tax cuts permanent. He seems to be better on taxes than Schweikert!!
The fact that Schweikert has not refuted all these issues is a major problem.
