Bitter Smith burnishes law enforcement cred with new ad, endorsements
By Evan Brown, PolitickerAZ.com ReporterSusan Bitter Smith, Republican primary candidate in the 5th Congressional District, is playing up her tough stance on issues of illegal immigration and crime with two new endorsements from law enforcement unions and a just-released ad featuring Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
On Wednesday, the Bitter Smith campaign unveiled the backing of the National Border Patrol Council Local 2544, which represents U.S. border agents, and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA), which counts 2,500 memebers of the Phoenix Police Department among its membership.
"Our endorsement of Susan Bitter Smith for the U.S. House from District 5 is prompted by her care for our communities and her commitment to the front-line police officers who
protect them," said Mark Spencer, president of PLEA.
Although PLEA's membership is not regarded as being cohesive when it comes to putting endorsements into ground-level action, and most border agents reside outside the 5th district, both endorsements help support the image Susan Bitter Smith has been trying to craft as the toughest candidate in the field on illegal immigration.
Adding to that is the new cable ad put out today by the campaign that features Sheriff Arpaio, whose efforts against illegal immigrants have been called heroic by some and criminal by others, but who enjoys enormous popularity among the district's conservative base.
"Susan Bitter Smith is conservative - very conservative," Arpaio says in the spot. "Her no-nonsense plan to secure our border is exactly what we need to protect our people and our homeland."

Why is it that Susan thinks it is okay to lie in order to win this race? She is NOT good on immigration. She is NOT a Reagan Republican. Heck, she isn't even a Republican!!! She is a pro "Undocumented Worker" Pro-baby Killing liberal. If she wins, I will probably go and Volunteer for Harry. Shame on her...
PLEA is just paying homage to Joe
This is another reason why PLEA can't put together a successful challenge to Phil Gordon.
Spencer made this endorsement because of Joe, yet he also voted to endorse Schweikert at the Arizona Police Association level...
The APA is the parent organization that covers over 6500 cops and border patrol supevisors... and they support SCHWEIKERT.
Lastly, I wonder if Spencer and Arpaio would be so hot and heavy for Bitter-Smith if they knew that she is also in bed with Gordon and Romley?

Contributing money (not coffee) to Schweikert's campaign!!!! So far, more than 60% of the money he has raised has come from out of state.
Joe's just protecting his investment....
Arpaio raised over 190k for his re-election in 2004 and over 160k went to technical solutions...
Ya... that's right... Bitter-Smith's lobbying firm. It only goes to prove that Arpaio is a whore just like the rest of Bitter-Smith's client's (i.e. RICK ROMLEY AND PHIL GORDON)...

A Bitter Taste...
Does Joe know that Susan is listed as a supporter of Phil Gordon's on Phil's website? This woman will do anything to get elected. She will lie, cheat and steal just like her and her husband have always done. She is more two-faced than Harvey Dent. Endorsed by "National Border Patrol Council Local 2544" looks like yet another Republican endorsed by big labor. It is sad that the average voter does not know Susan like we do. I am not sure who I am going to vote for just yet but I do appreciate Schweikert for sending out those mail pieces highlighting the truth about Susan. Somebody needed to do it and I am glad he did.

All this shows is Sheriff Joe has bad judgment. The fact that he supported the liberal Napolitano over Salmon is pathetic.
All it shows to me is our Sheriff is backing who he thinks is going to win and is willing to compromise his conservative values for it. Just because Bitter-Smith can raise some money from lobbyist does not mean to me she is worth backing...
The fact the Bitter-Smith is pro-choice and she is supported by Sheriff Joe someone who is staunchly pro-life is just unfathomable.
Also, I think there is a major problem with Bitter-Smith's support from lobbyists and that she was lobbying Congressman Mitchell while at the sametime running to replace him...
To me this is just not the person to put up against Mitchell... We need a real conservative like Mark Anderson or Laura Knaperek...

The citizens trust sheriff
The citizens trust sheriff Joe he at least has enforced our immigration laws which is his job and duty to the amercian citizen. To protect the citizens from the illegal alien invasion. If Sheriff Joe supports her that's good enough for me. Perhaps Janet Napolitano started off being a different kind of governor but I'm sure he would not support her now. It is not his fault if she switched horses in mid stream. He only saw her get on the first horse. They didn't butt heads until he started fighting illegal immigration. It is his job the law is on the books, he is doing what the citizens are asking him to do. Enforce the law!

Don't let your self be fooled by the Sheriff Joe endorsement where he says over and over again that she is a conservative. This is the same guy who supported Janet Napolitano in 2002...
The lobbyist Bitter-Smith supports killing unborn babies unlike every other candidate in the Republican primary.
She has no support in the district just her lobbyist friends in DC. She couldn't even raise money in AZ so she had a "virtual fundraiser" with her lobbyist cronies to raise money.
