Shanker endorsed by Progressive Dems

Progressive Democrats of America has endorsed attorney Howard Shanker in the Democratic primary for the 1st Congressional District seat. Shanker received the endorsement over other Democratic candidates Jeffrey Brown, Ann Kirkpatrick and Mary Kim Titla.

Tim Carpenter, PDA National Director, said in the announcement, "We are thrilled to endorse, actively aid, and support Howard for Congress.  Howard is precisely the kind of progressive leader needed in Congress today, who will protect human rights."

Carpenter praised Shanker for "protecting communities from the shadow of large corporations and abuses of federal and state governments" through his work on environmental cases, and said, "He is among the very best the Democratic Party has to offer.”

Shanker's only other major endorsement has come from U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Tucson). Ann Kirkpatrick has so far gotten the lion's share of contributions and endorsements and is favored in the four-way race.

Shanker is the best candidate in Dem CD-1 Primary

Here is why I am for Shanker (and he can win):

(1) He supports universal healthcare. Kirkpatrick would insure healthcare only for children, ignoring that if their parents have no healthcare, it hurts the children, too.

(2) He has 16 years experience in federal energy and environmental law and understands how those policies can reinvigorate our economy. Kirkpatrick is learning these issues now after a career and a law practice devoted to state, not federal, issues.

(3) Howard Shanker understands and fights for civil rights for all, with the depth of knowledge of a constitutional lawyer. Kirkpatrick, and Mary Kim Titla, would impose their personal religious views on the constitutional rights of Americans who disagree with them.

(4) Shanker speaks the hard truths about immigration and has a practical plan to stop illegal immigration from undermining wages without making employers into cops or criminals. Kirkpatrick talks about the problems but has no solutions except the punitive, bureaucratic, employer sanctions she voted for in the legislature.

(5) Kirkpatrick’s appeal is that she was born in Arizona. Shanker has lived in Arizona longer than most Arizonians -- and is a hero to the first Arizona residents – the Native Americans (Democrats – read November voter turnout!). Shanker started his public interest law firm, serving the residents of CD-1, in 1993. Two years before that, Kirkpatrick withdrew to a private practice emphasizing wills and trusts. She emerged from that only for 18 months of an aborted term in the legislature (she resigned to run for Congress).

Ask: Who will best represent Arizona? – not, who was born here?

Shanker the best out there!

If you look closely, you will see Evan Brown likes Ann K. and he continually prints the same thing about her. However, he is wrong.

Howard Shanker has a much broader base of support. If you look and see how many donations he has received, it doubles Ann K. She just has some big bucks Bush Democrats (Dems who vote republican) behind her.

I personally feel that someone should give Bush a Blowjob so we can finally IMPEACH him.

Its a sorry state of the world when a president will go down for someone going down, but when he lies and kills over 4,000 hard working service men and women he seems to get away without even a slap on the wrist.

Ann Kirkpatrick pushes the same phony baloney as Pelosi: " I want to stop the war, but I'm going to approve this $150 billion to let him fight it."

We need strong candidates like Howard Shanker!!!!!!!

Shanker is Skanker

Shanker had the audacity to mention that Pres. Bush needed a blow job so that his impeachment could go forward. He is not ready for the big show with his lack of class. This happened in Pinetop at the dem candidate debate and i for one will not promote him as someone who will represent CD1 in DC. He is a low life.

Shanker can't win

Shanker can't win and Brown, Kirkpatrick and Titla aren't exactly exciting anyone with their campaigns. The Republicans? I don't think the GOP will do well anywhere this year. So in the 1st district race it still looks like Maupin if he raises the money needed. He's still the only one talking about any issue.
