Most people know that 2008 is quite a busy year in Arizona congressional politics, but today the Arizona Capitol Times shed light on just how busy it is. The state boasts four competitive House races - half of its districts - the outcomes of which will help shape Congress for the next two years, but the less-scrutinized races have a wealth of candidates as well.
While the focus may be on contests like the CD1 fight over Rep. Rick Renzi's seat, the CD5 Republican primary and the premier battle between Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and state Sen. Tim Bee in the 8th, voters in all of Arizona's districts will have a choice in November. With the spotlight firmly fixed on the top four, the others have been in the shadows as far as the media is concerned.
Today is different. The Arizona Capitol Times has released a list of all candidates who have filed as congressional competitors for 2008. The litany of incumbents and hopefuls is presented without preference, pretense or puffery, and, at least in this format, all candidates are created equal.
Here is the list, per the Arizona Capitol Times:

Don't dog politicker.com too much, they relied on an article by the Arizona Capitol Times. If non-Demopublican candidates offer up noteworthy actions, I am sure the folks here will cover it.

Moderate Maupin
This northerner is liking what he reads about his new homes future election. Bringing moderation to this race is good. The country needs change. Big time. Now. REgistered nonpartisan so to make a statement. Will be paying attention to Maupin this summer and seeing what he has to say.
CD1 race
thanks for the eagle eye cactus. seems the politicker has chosen the winners for the fall primary (who needs primaries in Arizona). if the research is as good as the list of candidates, which you are right overlooked Maupin from Sedona, Maupin may be the winner. CD1 might be an interesting race after all.
Independents don't count?
Apparently not to the politicker. They missed Brent Maupin who filed in CD1 as an Independent with 4,004 signatures http://www.azsos.gov/election/2008/general/IndependentCandidates.htm.
Both the Prescott Daily Courier and Verde Independent thought his candidacy was worth mentioning.
According to his website he is calling for a "political revolution" because "elected politicians in Washington are allowing themselves to be manipulated by special interest groups and by the power of a select few that have held positions in Congress for far to long."
