I agree with you italiana. Joe is just all hype. Maybe there IS an immigration problem, but the way joe goes about it is wrong. And we must all remember that EVERY human has certain rights because they're humans. EVEN illegals. Another thing is that I don't see joe capturing real criminals such as murderers, rapists, thieves. I just finding scapegoats like the illegals, or marijuana users. And WOW who cares if he made a big marijuana drug bust. Marijuana has never killed even one person in the whole history of the US. One has to admire the Sisyphean tenacity of the Congress as it starts to roll another boulder up the mountain of public opposition to the federal encouragement of illegal immigration. The latest attempt, HR 5515, masquerading under the euphemistic label "New Employee Verification Act" (NEVA) is another unworthy successor...

As always when dealing with the political class growing ever more distant from the populace it rules, the NEVA devil is in the details. For all of its noble goals, hidden in the voluminous wording of this legislation is the true agenda of its sponsors, to wit, the section on preemption, Section 101(b)(2)(A), which reduced to simple language* WOULD PREEMPT AND BAN ANY AND ALL STATES OR LOCAL LAW FOR IMMIGRATION-RELATED ISSUES enacted to impose employer fines or sanctions, or would forbid any laws requiring employers to verify work status or identity for work authorization. It would also prevent any unit of government from verifying status of renters, determining eligibility for receipt of benefits, enrollment in school, obtaining a business or other license, or conducting a background check.

Janet Napalotano should be impeached and brought up on treason charges for subversion of the law, then we should elect Joe Arpaio for our Governor. I'll bet Arizonas border would soon be secure with a tent city right on the border to remind what Governor Arpaio will do with the illegals that cross our border illegally. I think a mandatory 2 years in tent city, building the fence, after that the alien gets deported, second offence is 5 years at tent city! Sheriff Joe for Governor!!!!!

Why are mainly Democratic liberals so utterly clueless on illegal immigration? Do they not realize that the whole action of coming into this nation illegally, has far greater implications than the fact that many of the immigrants are involved in all types of crime? Senate amnesty vote postponed until next week -- time to create grassroots firestorm to stop it!

Because the House of Representatives unexpectedly delayed the Iraq supplemental spending bill late Thursday, the full Senate won't be allowed today to vote on the amnesty bill that the Senate Appropriations Committee unexpectedly took up and approved Thursday.

Rosemary Jenks (Vice President, Government Relations, numbersusa.com) just finished reading the Iraq supplemental spending bill as it came out of committee. It would:

*Grant a three-year work visa followed by a permanent greencard to all illegal aliens who have been working as shepherds, goat herders and dairy herders.
*Grant a five-year work visa to the estimated 1.3 million illegal aliens working in other agricultural jobs -- plus all of their families. There is no instruction on what happens after the five years.
*Grant a tripling of the maximum number of H-2B visas for lower skill, non-agricultural seasonal workers.
*Grant industries an extra 218,000 additional permanent green cards for skilled foreign workers.

Rosemary says you don't have to have spent much time in the fields to qualify for Feinstein and Craig's amnesty.
You only have to meet ONE of the following three criteria to get the amnesty:

*Earned $7,000 working in agriculture during the 2004-2007 period.
*Or worked 863 hours in agriculture during the 2004-2007 period.
*Or worked at least a little bit in agriculture on 150 different days during the 2004-2007 period.
That amounts to an average of $1,750 per year ...
*... or 216 hours per year (the equivalent of 4 hours per week) ...
*... or parts of 37 days per year.

The assumption that Arpaio is the only elected official doing anything about immigration is wrong, wrong, wrong. What he does do is cheap publicity stunts that are similiar to junk food. They taste good, but accomplish nothing. Moreover, his staged busts interrupt more sophisticated law enforcement efforts that capture the human smugglers and weapons dealers.

Gov Janet Napolitano should be thrown out of office and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio would enforce the laws of our country. Napolitano is pandering to big business, the Latino caucuses and the pro-illegal alien lobby. We need a strong person who will not genuflect, to the illegal alien invasion.

Right now Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) is expected to try to add an amnesty for illegal-alien agricultural workers to the Iraq supplemental spending bill when that bill is marked up today in the Senate Appropriations Committee. At this point, the details of the amnesty are unknown. There is some chance she may try to slip it through by giving one or two million illegal ag workers a 5-year amnesty as opposed to a permanent legalization. However, that still allows them to work and live here while further sinking roots. The open-borders champions hope that the longer illegal aliens stay the more difficult it will ever be to deny them U.S. citizenship. In addition, Madam House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is using strong-arm tactics against anti-illegal-immigration Democrats in an effort to kill the SAVE Act (H.R. 4088) for the year. North Carolina Democrat Heath Shuler's SAVE Act is an incredible threat to the unscrupulous businesses of America who insist on illegal labor to hold down their labor costs. Most business owners are not like that, but the outlaw businesses have the ear of Speaker Pelosi. Speaker Pelosi and her team are intimidating Democrats to make sure they do not sign the Discharge Petition that would bring the SAVE Act to the floor for a vote. They know it would easily pass.
